Description
App dev is for anyone who wants to learn how to build their own iOS and/or Android app from scratch! We will start from the very beginning, teaching students how to use XCode (iOS) and Android Studio (Android). Classes will be taught in Swift (iOS) and Java (Android). Students will be able to build a functioning mobile app during the hackathon and maybe even publish it on the Apple App Store or Google Play Store!

Description
StartHacking is meant to introduce Blueprint attendees (whether first-time coders or not) to hackathons. This track is taught in Python and intended to set hackers up with the resources they need to successfully complete a hackathon project. These projects serve as starting points for further participation in hackathons and programming at large.

- How can you apply a knowledge of programming to projects, personal or educational, in other disciplines or subjects?

Description
The beginner webdev track offers Blueprint attendees an introductory learning opportunity in beginner-level web development. This track exposes first-time web developers to the basics of JavaScript and HTML/CSS, and it will provide the framework for hackers to build their own basic web app.

Description
The advanced webdev track is an opportunity for attendees to further their web development experience. This track will quickly review HTML/CSS and some JavaScript as well as introduce students to React.js and databases. This knowledge will help hackers build a more complex web app than they ever have before.

PROJECT SUBMISSION
Project submission will be taking place on our newly written platform, Spectacle! The link for Spectacle will appear here and on the front page of dayof when the time comes. Please read the following instructions carefully!
- Go to Spectacle and login with your my.hackmit.org account.
- From there, make a team or join one from "Manage Team" to get started.
- All hackers are eligible to submit the general division, regardless of whether they participated in the learnathon or not. Teams where all members have less than one year of programming experience are eligible to submit to the beginner division. We especially encourage first-time coders who attended StartHacking to choose this division.
- Hit "Submit Project" when you're ready, and use "Edit Project" from "Manage Team" afterwards to make any changes before the deadline. Remember to provide specify your division: either general or beginner.
- You will be asked to provide a virtual room link (e.g. Zoom) that judges can access. Please make sure this link is submitted correctly on Spectacle or judges may be unable to find you!
JUDGING
Judging this year will take place on our new platform, Ballot! Our live judging will be schedule based. A master schedule will be generated once project submission completes. You will be sent a judging schedule over email 15 minutes before judging begins. Here's the rundown:
- Each project group will be alloted 10 minutes of judging consisting of 4 minutes of presentation and 4 minutes of Q & A. The project group will supply the video conferencing link on either Zoom.
- All hackers will receive a magic link via email that contains their schedule. There will a text box to edit and test video conferencing link on the schedule.
- If your judge does not show up after 3 minutes do not fret! Please contact us as soon as possible in the judging discord channel and we will work to schedule your project into a backup slot.
- All judges will receive a magic link via email that contains their schedule. For each block there will be a project and a video call link to join.
- Judges should update their rankings after visiting each project.
- If hackers do not provide a video link or do not show up to the call, judges will message into the judging discord channel to notify the project and us.
QUESTIONS
What if I don't have a team?
No worries! We'll be holding a team formation and ideation event on Sunday at 9:30 am EST to allow hackers who came without a team to find one. Feel free to also form spontaneous teams with new friends you meet through the event.
Will the events be recorded?
Yes! Recordings will be available on our YouTube channel.
How do I ask for help during a workshop?
Submit a ticket through our HelpQ, choose the tag for the workshop you're in, and a workshop mentor will get to your question as soon as possible!
What are the requirements for receiving swag?
You must attend the learnathon and/or hackathon to receive swag. Unfortunately, our fulfillment center doesn't ship internationally, so swag will only be shipped to the continental United States. Sorry for the inconvenience! If you have an alternate address in the United States, we can use that instead.
